The paper deals with a survey conducted at school by teachers and students not very recent, but current once again with the Russian invasion of Ukraine aiming to focus on the role of women in wars, through searching for direct family records pertaining to the years of WWII, in a perspective of civil resistance and beyond gender stereotypes. The analysis of collected data identifies some constants in the presence and action of women, through which it is possible to pass through scrutiny our past and present, against the persistence of a vision of war as men's business.
