Abstract
- This article discusses two cases of corneal melt in patients with eyelid sebaceous gland carcinoma (SGC) who underwent systemic neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). The patients received three cycles of chemotherapy and showed a remarkable response, but corneal melt was observed after the second and third cycles. The authors hypothesize that the combination of the chemotherapeutic agent 5-FU and the release of biomolecules from the regressing tumor may have contributed to the corneal complications. They suggest that the use of lubricants and topical steroids during chemotherapy may help prevent this side effect. [Extracted from the article]
