Abstract
- Based on the film Homem Comum (2015), by Carlos Nader, the article explores some implications of the fragmentary model of digital archives, which intertwine the dimensions of public and private in the social experience of time. Sharing this same field of problematization, the YouTube platform is explored and inserted in the discussion as a type of "device" that gives rise to certain ways of feeling and experiencing time in societies most strongly touched by informational media culture. The article bets that Nader's film and the YouTube platform share, in a way, the same technological/epistemological terrain. To explore these intersections, we relied, above all, on currents linked to German media theories, such as Wolfgang Ernst and Vilém Flusser, as well as authors who, in the same perspective, explore the themes of media archives and temporality in contemporary culture.
