Abstract

This article presents an integrative review on the effects of Slow and Prolonged Expiration (ELPr) associated with respiratory physiotherapy techniques in infants with acute viral bronchiolitis (BVA). BVA is a bronchiole injury caused by viral infection, which obstructs the small airways in infants. The integrative review used the databases PUBmed, LILACS, Scielo, and Cochrane, selecting clinical trials and reviews published between 2012 and 2024. Three clinical trials and one integrative review were included, which showed that ELPr associated with other techniques reduces the severity of BVA in infants, but the effectiveness in oxygen therapy and respiratory discomfort is uncertain.
