Abstract
- With the application of interdisciplinarity between Anthropology, Ethnology, Ethnography and History, we seek to assess the mythical commitment between craft initiatives from an ancestral past and the process of interculturality experienced by the Mbya in Brazil. Through knowledge, the past is made present and experienced in everyday life, as representatives of values incurred in the mythical sphere. Indigenous art can be evaluated as a renaissance operation in the search for the myth, as the founder of reality. Along the lines suggested by Darcy Ribeiro, Cristina Pompa and Michel de Certeau, indigenous artistic manifestations are considered as expressive actions of the concept of intangible cultural heritage, making up traditional knowledge. The artifacts themselves translate a set of resources used for the transmission of cosmological knowledge. At the same time, they ensure a source of income bordering the space of their villages and urban areas, difficult to delimit, given the coexistence between urban, suburban and border areas.
