Abstract

The progress of chrome-free tanning in tanning has made the development of its supporting polymer chemicals a hot spot. In terms of polymers, the structure of polymer chains has a significant impact on their molecular structure, directly affecting their application range and effectiveness as the leather chemicals in this process. To date, there are still few reports on the review of organic chromium-free tanning chemicals based on the structure of polymer chains. Thus, in this study, the polymer chemicals used in chrome free tanning was reviewed according to the main construction methods such as linear, branched, and cross-linked structures. In addition, the characteristics of the different configurations, the main factors affecting them and the advantages of the corresponding configurations in the preparation of chemicals for chrome-free tanning were characteristics. This study can provide theoretical supports for the development of polymer chemicals in organic chromium-free tanning systems, and further promote the transformation, upgrading, and sustainable development of the traditional leather industry.
