Abstract

The article reports on the water crisis in Mexico City, Mexico due to climate change, urban sprawl, poor infrastructure and vulnerability to droughts. It informs the low capacity of the Cutzmala water system, low water level at a reservoir, pipe leaks that caused water loss, and the lack of water supply in areas including the Iztapalapa borough of working class community. Government efforts to address the water crisis include digging of wells and construction of a tunnel to take wastewater.
