Abstract

The Pennsylvania legislature recently passed Senate Bill 843, which requires personal financial literacy courses in public schools starting in the 2026-2027 school year. The Department of Education will develop specific standards to meet this requirement. Auditor General Timothy DeFoor visited the Cleve J. Fredricksen Library to promote financial literacy and the new educational standards, and he will be visiting other libraries throughout the state. PA Forward has partnered with state banking and credit union associations to bring financial literacy programming to libraries. Libraries are encouraged to promote financial literacy through their collections and by encouraging patrons to get library cards. [Extracted from the article]
