Abstract

This document is a reply to a letter by Yu-Hsiang Lin et al. regarding the use of pigtail-suture stents (PSSs) for reducing stent-related symptoms (SRS) after ureteroscopy (URS). The authors acknowledge the limitations of PSSs in draining urine through edematous or tumor obstacles, but highlight their benefits in terms of clinical tolerance and respect for the ureterovesical junction. They also commend the use of PSSs as an intermediate drainage solution after URS, offering better tolerance and pain management compared to double-pigtail stents (DPSs). However, PSSs are not recommended for the drainage of tumors due to potential compression and drainage failure. The authors suggest the development of tumor-specific PSSs for more effective management. [Extracted from the article]
