Abstract
- A recent study published in the Journal of Infectious Diseases explores the potential of allogeneic natural killer (NK) cell therapies as a part of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) cure approaches. The study evaluated the safety and effectiveness of adoptive NK cell therapies in individuals with HIV who were on antiretroviral therapy (ART). The results showed that the infused NK cells persisted in the body for at least one week and there were no severe adverse effects associated with the treatment. While the study has limitations, it represents an important milestone in the field of HIV cure research and suggests that NK cell therapies could be a promising avenue for further exploration.
