Abstract

This article explores the presence of putative hybrids between the Mountain Caracara and White-throated Caracara in northern Patagonia. The authors use eBird records and other sources to map the distribution and overlap of the two species. They identify potential hybrids based on plumage characteristics and discuss the ecological importance of northern Patagonia for the evolutionary processes within this group of caracaras. The study suggests that further research and genetic studies are needed to confirm these hybrids and understand their evolutionary history, with potential implications for the impact of climate change on Andean ecosystems and the conservation of national parks in the region.
