Abstract

The investigation presented has, as main goal, analyzing the cognitive skill levels of the evaluation criteria on the Spanish National Baccalaureate curriculum related to the historical thinking competencies. To reach that objective, we designed and validated (group of experts) an evaluation instrument (RECH, as a Spanish acronym of rubric to assess historical competencies) that shows three different cognitive skill levels for a qualitative analysis of curriculum. Two curriculum has been compared, the previous Royal Decree 1105/2014 for Secondary School and Baccalaureate, and the new Royal Decree 243/2022 for Baccalaureate School (17-18 years old). The results show a greater presence of historical thinking competencies in the new Spanish curriculum, and, at the same time, more consistent cognitive skills in the evaluation criteria.
