Abstract
- A literary criticism of the speculative science fiction novels "Wild Seed" and "Bloodchild" by Octavia E. Butler is presented. Topics discussed include the portrayal of Afrofuturism, post-human Black women's reproductive experience and slavery in "Wild Seed," the exploration of how humans can live ethically in "Bloodchild," and how Butler illustrated the disruption of reproduction leading to extinction when people refuse to embrace difference and reject power hierarchies.
