Abstract

This article examines the impact of alcohol on Celtic culture in Europe during the Iron Age. It highlights the role of alcohol, particularly beer and mead, in shaping trade, diplomacy, and cultural geography among the diverse Celtic tribes. The production processes, regional variations, and significance of drinking vessels are also discussed. Alcohol served as more than just a beverage, acting as a medium for international trade, influencing regional relations, and playing a role in religious practices. The study of alcohol in Celtic Europe provides insights into social organization, cultural diffusion, and historical geography, which can be valuable in geography education.
