Abstract

This article provides information on construction economics, specifically focusing on cost indexes, wages, and materials prices. The Construction Cost Index had an annual escalation of 1.8%, while the Building Cost Index increased by 3.1% annually. The Materials Cost Index remained steady for the month but saw an annual escalation of 7.4%. Construction starts in the Cincinnati metro area are expected to rise by 27.9% in 2024, with non-residential starts predicted to increase by 40.7% and residential starts expected to rise by 14%. The article also includes a table with cost indexes for various cities. Prices for PVC pipe products remained unchanged in March, but prices for other types of pipes varied across different cities and had different inflation rates.
