Abstract

In this paper a MPPT based impedance source solar powered inverter is designed to convert solar power to an alternating supply. First a boost converter is built to transform variable input voltage to a fixed DC voltage of desired magnitude and then it is fed to the impedance source inverter. MPPT algorithm is used to track the maximum power while controlling the duty cycle of the boost converter. The integration of MPPT with impedance source converter (ZSI) is primarily motivated by its efficiency in power conversion and reliability, making it a favorable choice for various distributed generation power applications compared to voltage source inverters. In this paper, an analysis is conducted on a three-phase impedance source inverter using a straightforward boost control method. The analysis focuses on key aspects such as the boosted output voltage, total harmonic distortion (THD) of line current, voltage stress on switches, generation of shoot-through states, and converter gain. Simulation is carried out in MATLAB Simulink environment and the results are presented to verify the theoretical findings [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
