Abstract

A case report in the journal Reactions Weekly describes a 43-year-old woman who experienced a lack of efficacy when treated with naproxen for a severe headache. The woman had a medical history of anxiety, childhood chickenpox, and being 18 months post-partum. She presented to the emergency department with a headache, photophobia, and other symptoms suggestive of meningitis. After further testing, she was diagnosed with varicella-zoster virus (VZV) meningitis and treated with acyclovir. Her symptoms gradually resolved and she was discharged without complications.
