Abstract

A 46-year-old woman with intractable heart failure experienced a rebound effect, hypotension, decreased urine output, and worsening symptoms of pulmonary congestion after a dose reduction of dobutamine. She also developed hypokalemia and metabolic alkalosis during treatment with furosemide. The woman had a history of type 2 diabetes mellitus and was initially treated for decompensated heart failure before being transferred to another hospital. She received various treatments, including continuous infusion of dobutamine and norepinephrine, and eventually underwent coronary artery bypass grafting and ventricular septal defect closure. She was discharged without relapsing symptoms of heart failure. [Extracted from the article]
