Abstract

The objective of this quantitative research was to characterize the demand for family violence in online psychological care during the COVID-19 pandemic from the perspective of clinical psychologists in the state of Santa Catarina. 50 clinical psychologists participated, who answered an online questionnaire using Google Forms. Descriptive statistical analysis was used to analyze the data. In terms of results, it was observed that among the clients who suffered violence, there was a predominance of women and female adolescents. The main violence reported was psychological, self-inflicted, and physical, carried out mainly by the husband, partner, father, mother, or the client herself. Sectors of the protection and rights guarantee network were little sought after by professionals (12%). Regarding the difficulties or ease in clinical management of cases of violence, 42% of the participants considered it more difficult to deal with situations of violence online than in person, and more than half responded that they felt sensitized when dealing with these situations. It is considered that this study made it possible to understand the characteristics of online psychological care for family violence demands in private clinical practice in the pandemic scenario, a subject that is still little visible in empirical national studies.
