Abstract
- Endodontic retreatment and endodontic surgery are therapeutic modalities established upon the failure of primary treatment, constituting the last resort to save the dental element and restore the patient's oral health. The objective of this work was to report a clinical case with an extensive periapical lesion between the roots of teeth 11 and 12 in which multiple endodontic retreatments were performed followed by surgical completion, with a view to resolving an endodontic failure. Initially, teeth 11 and 12 were retreated, using the most recent materials and techniques available. In total, 3 intracanal medication changes were carried out with Bio-C Temp, over a period of 6 months. However, in the last exchange there was the appearance of a fistula in the palatal region, indicating the need for surgical complementation to the established endodontic retreatments. In the 10-month follow-up periapical radiograph, it was possible to observe total regression of the lesion, with integrity of the lamina dura, configuring successful treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
