Abstract

A recent study published in Physiological Reviews explores the potential link between diabetes and Long COVID. The study found that the use of the medication Metformin, commonly prescribed for type 2 diabetes, was associated with a reduced incidence of severe COVID-19 and Long COVID symptoms. The researchers propose that Metformin's ability to inhibit the formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) may contribute to its benefits for patients with Long COVID. Further clinical trials are needed to evaluate the effectiveness of Metformin in treating both COVID-19 and Long COVID. [Extracted from the article]
