Abstract

"All We Want is the Earth: Land, Labour and Movements Beyond Environmentalism" by Patrick Bresnihan and Naomi Millner is a book that challenges mainstream environmentalism and offers a new framework for understanding social and ecological crises. The authors argue that environmentalism should not focus solely on nonhuman land and ecologies, but also consider livelihoods, forms of labor, and histories of colonialism. They introduce the concept of resonance, which highlights how diverse social movements can support and build on one another to address ecological and social issues. While the book could have included more discussion on organized labor and industrial unions, it provides an alternate history of environmentalism and offers hope for a more just future.
