Abstract

The Chinese Ambassador to the United States, Xie Feng, recently visited Harvard University to discuss China-U.S. relations. In his discussion, he emphasized the importance of understanding China's history, culture, and key concepts in order to have a comprehensive understanding of the country. He highlighted three key aspects of Chinese culture: the belief in the paramount importance of peace, the focus on rule by virtue rather than force, and the Chinese people's keen sense of history. The Ambassador also addressed the Taiwan question, stating that it is the most important and sensitive issue in the China-U.S. relationship. He called for the U.S. to recognize the sensitivity of the issue, observe the one-China principle, and work towards peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits. [Extracted from the article]
