Abstract

Salvage operations are underway to clear the wreckage of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, which collapsed after being struck by a cargo vessel. The operation involves lifting and removing the wreckage from the riverbed using an array of equipment, including a floating crane and tugboats. The salvors rely on divers and high-resolution sonar imagery to assess the condition of the wreckage and ensure safe removal. The goal is to establish a navigational channel by the end of May, partially restoring access to the Port of Baltimore. The operation is ongoing, and the cost has not been announced.
