Abstract: Abstract: Au and Ag on the stepped W(1 4 5) surface with step width form quantum stripes up to a thickness of 2 and 3 monolayers (ML), respectively. The 2 ML stripes show a one-dimensional E () dispersion which perpendicular to the stripes is determined by a repetition with the reciprocal superlattice vector . [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
