A Critical Review of the Objections on Wāqidi as Rāvī.

Muhammad bin Umar al-Waāqidiī is one of the prominent biographers of the prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The narrations reported by him in his book of Maghaāzī and other sources such as al- tţabaqaāt of ibn Sa'd and al-tţabarī have been criticized and al- Waāqidiī have been labled as ghair thiqah (unauthentic) and Daiīf for various reasons. But the fact is different. In fact, the majority of those who raised objections to al-Waāqidiţ are also convinced that he is a pioneer of Maghaāziţ or Imam al Maghaāziţ. Also all his critics accept him as Hujjat in Maghaāziţ. Therefore, weighing the objections against al-Waāqidiţ in the balance of al-Jarh wa al- Ta'dil is necessary. This paper seeks to critically evaluate the allegations raised against al-Waāqidiţ as "Raāviţ" (narrator) in the light of Asma-al-Rijaāl books and the sources of his biography. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
