Abstract

Before reaching its adult-type composition around the age of 3 to 5 years, the infant's intestinal microbiota gradually establishes since birth according to a trajectory influenced by ecological and environmental factors. However, the most important thing is that this trajectory probably has an influence on the future health of the child. Even if, to date, data issued from research do not allow us to give practical management advice, it is very likely that in the years to come we will be able to optimize the trajectory of implantation of the intestinal microbiota of our patients, to guarantee them the best chance of remaining healthy throughout their whole lives.
