Abstract
- The article presents the discussion on identifying a potential ethical conflict between the principles of beneficence and respect for patient autonomy. Topics include patients refuse to remain in an emergency department (ED) for observation after overdose reversal with naloxone; and purported conflict between beneficence and autonomy maps poorly to this situation.
