Abstract

This article summarizes a retrospective study that investigated the factors associated with achieving a pathological complete response (pCR) in breast cancer patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). The study included 119 female patients diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. The primary outcome, pCR, was defined as the absence of residual invasive breast cancer in both the breast tissue and axillary lymph nodes. The study found that the molecular subtype was the only independent factor associated with pCR, with HER2-positive and triple-negative subtypes showing higher odds of achieving pCR compared to other subtypes. The study emphasizes the importance of considering molecular subtypes when determining treatment strategies for breast cancer patients undergoing NAC. [Extracted from the article]
