Abstract

As a result of the increase in studies on autonomous vehicles, changes are being made in existing systems on the vehicle. Nowadays the steering gear boxes used in automobiles are the rack and pinion type and the need to use electric motors with low speed and high momentum in their drive has necessitated dealing with new approaches in gearboxes. In this study, a steering gearbox had a suitable reduction ratio for drive with low torque and high speed an electric motor with has been designed which has not been used in the literature. It has been found that the hypocycloid gear systems have a great advantage both in achieving the desired reduction ratio and in the precision of the wheel turning angles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
