Abstract

Abstract: Laser dyes such as coumarin 440 (C440) and coumarin 500 (C500) were doped into vinyltriethoxysilane (VTES)-derived organically modified silicates (ORMOSILs) by sol–gel process. The fluorescence properties of these two dyes doped in VTES-derived ORMOSILs with various initial dye concentrations were studied. A longitudinal pumped solid-state dye laser was established with a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser source. The laser performances of C440 and C500 dyes doped in VTES-derived ORMOSILs were also measured.
