Abstract

This article, published in the journal Endoscopy, compares the effectiveness of forceps biopsy (FB) and optical evaluation methods for detecting dysplasia/cancer in large laterally spreading tumors (LSTs). The study included 57 patients with LSTs, divided into two groups based on the subtype of their tumors. The results showed that both FB and optical evaluation had similar sensitivity in detecting dysplasia/cancer in LSTs. However, optical evaluation performed better in flat lesions. Therefore, the authors suggest that routine biopsy sampling before endoscopic removal of large flat LSTs is not necessary. [Extracted from the article]
