Abstract

• Structural equation modeling approach to analyze EV users' decision-making process. • Acceptability of dynamic wireless charging facilities influenced by latent factors. • User's acceptance and latent constructs are mediated by the intention to use. • Urban users are more likely to adopt DWC technology compared to rural users. • EV experience strengthens the relationship between perceived usefulness and users' intention. Gaining insights into how users perceive dynamic wireless charging (DWC), also known as dynamic wireless power transfer (DWPT), technology for electric vehicle charging is crucial for developing effective measures and policies for its successful integration into the transportation network. This research paper presents a study conducted in New Zealand using an online stated preference survey and employing a structural equation modelling approach. The study investigates users' intention and acceptance of DWC technology, considering various latent factors, while incorporating attributes related to technology acceptance and the theory of planned behaviour in the modelling framework. The findings reveal that perceived concern negatively influences users' intention to use DWC facilities, while perceived usefulness in terms of ease of use and convenience, as well as environmental awareness and social norms, positively impact users' intention. These results offer valuable insights for devising strategies to enhance the acceptance of DWC technology in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
