Abstract

This document is a letter published in the British Journal of Surgery that discusses racial disparities in outcomes after liver transplantation in the UK. The study analyzed data from the UK Transplant Registry on liver transplants performed between January 2009 and December 2019. The findings showed that black recipients had significantly poorer 1-year graft survival compared to white recipients. The study suggests that inherent immunological differences and potential lack of access to transplant services may contribute to these disparities. Further research is needed to improve equitable health outcomes for all liver transplant recipients. [Extracted from the article]
