Abstract
- This article, titled "X-Ray Contrast Media in Interventional Radiology for Scrub Technologists," discusses the use of contrast media (CM) in interventional radiology (IR) procedures. The article highlights the importance of understanding the differences between CM used in diagnostic studies and those used in IR procedures, such as intraarterial administration and mixing with drugs and embolic agents. The article also mentions the various types of CM used in IR, including iodine-based, gadolinium-based, and carbon dioxide-based CM, as well as Lipiodol. The choice of CM depends on factors such as the patient's clinical status, the technical nature of the procedure, and the desired image quality. The article emphasizes the need for scrub technologists to have a thorough understanding of IR procedures and CM characteristics in order to safely handle and administer CM.
