Abstract
- A study presented at the AAOS 2023 Annual Meeting in Las Vegas examined the impact of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) on patient experience and activation in foot and ankle surgery. The study found that the adoption and application of PROMs by foot and ankle surgeons may not improve patient experience or activation and may even decrease understanding or patient activation in certain populations. The study included 213 patients and found no difference in satisfaction or patient activation between the intervention and control groups. The authors suggest that further research is needed to determine the best way to present PROMs to patients and to identify which patient populations would benefit the most from their use.
