The “wasq” that is used in connection with the zakat nisab of agricultural products was a measure of weight that was in use in the past and is no longer in use today. Almost all agricultural products that were previously measured by volume are now measured by scale. There are many different approaches to determining the equivalent of WASQ in terms of weight measurements, both historically and today. Currently, various methods exist for calculating the zakat nisab of agricultural goods. This may involve a single kilogram or varied kilograms, depending on the type of product. This article explores the existing research on the modern counterparts to the historical measurements, followed by an analysis of the approach used by authorized institutions in the Islamic world when determining the zakat nisab for agricultural products and the challenges they face. The intended purpose is to offer a measure that aligns with fiqh and is easily applicable for zakat givers today. It is concluded that determining the zakat nisab for agricultural products as a standard of single kilogram is feasible than separate values for each product. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
