Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, vitamin D consumption was highly indicated by the actions on the immune system. This study describes vitamin D intake during the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on health through systematic review, following the Prisma method. Five databases were used (PubMed, BVS, Scopus, CAPES and Embase). Of the 163 articles found, 11 were selected after eligibility criteria. Nine associated vitamin D deficiency with COVID-19, one assessed vitamin D administration in survivor rate and one analyzed the amount and values of vitamin D acquisition. Vitamin D levels in the pandemic are lower, as is exposure to the sun, the main form of vitamin synthesis. Studies have shown lower levels in more severe cases and greater need for non-invasive ventilation. Further studies of high levels of evidence are recommended. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
