Abstract
- The article explores the use of extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) in children with primary noncardiac diagnoses. A study comparing outcomes of pediatric patients who received ECPR versus conventional CPR found no significant difference in survival to discharge. However, more research is needed to fully understand the potential benefits of ECPR in this population. The document also references other studies and articles that discuss the effects of intra-arrest transport, immediate invasive assessment and treatment, and early ECPR on functional neurologic outcome in refractory cases of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. These sources emphasize the need for further evidence and research in the field of ECPR for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. [Extracted from the article]
