A sine cosine algorithm for optimal reactive power dispatch problem.

This paper solves the optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD) problem applying sine-cosine optimization algorithm. The main intention of the ORPD problem is to reduce the real power loss in the transmission lines and maintain voltage magnitude at an acceptable level in the system network while satisfying the set of specified operational constraints. The sine-cosine algorithm is a powerful population formed algorithm for solving the optimization problems. The sine-cosine algorithm generates a number of initial candidate solutions, and progresses towards the optimal solution. The proposed method is applied to standard IEEE-14 and 30 bus systems.
