Abstract

The article discusses the Majesty Palm, a species of palm native to South-central Madagascar. While it is commonly found as a potted plant in homes and stores, only a small number of specimens survive in the wild due to habitat loss. The article explores the implications of the palm's proliferation in domestic interiors, highlighting its historical and cultural significance in various cultures and religions. It also examines the geopolitical aspects of the palm's distribution and consumption, as well as the environmental fragility of the plant. The article challenges traditional representations of power and capital and suggests a counter-project of fidelity for the architectural image. [Extracted from the article]
