Abstract
- As Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) progresses rapidly, there is a growing demand for precise prediction of aerodynamic heating in hypersonic flows, which remains a considerable challenge. In this paper, an accurate and robust line-hybrid method is proposed for aero-heating computations. Two HLL-type schemes are combined by utilising lines constructed in the computational grid. The high-dissipation HLL scheme is exerted at the source of shock instability to suppress disturbance propagation, while the low-dissipation HLLC scheme is applied in the wall-normal direction. The resulting HLLC-Line scheme exhibits superior robustness and accuracy simultaneously compared to conventional individual or hybrid schemes. Accurate and smoothly distributed heat profiles can be obtained by the new scheme, including those in the stagnation or interaction regions. Numerical experiments validate that the line-hybrid method is highly effective in predicting aerodynamic heating involving complex configurations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
