Much Ado about Nothing or, How Much Philosophy Is Required to Invent the Number Zero?

This article argues that the search for a philosophy that gave rise to the number zero is misguided. No philosophy is required to invent this number. The article further shows that there are good reasons to accept that Buddhism did not play a role in this invention.
