Abstract

Guttate psoriasis (GP) is a type of psoriasis characterized by a sudden outbreak of red, scaly, drop-like bumps on the skin, often occurring after an infection. While most cases of GP resolve within a few months, some patients develop chronic plaque psoriasis. Traditional treatments for GP include topical corticosteroids and phototherapy. However, a recent case study suggests that early treatment with guselkumab, a medication that blocks interleukin (IL)-23, may lead to long-term disease control and remission in GP patients. Further research is needed to fully understand the effectiveness of IL-23 inhibitors in treating GP. [Extracted from the article]
