Abstract

This purpose of this paper is to explore professional networking for career advancement of librarians in academic libraries. Career advancement as a means of preparing to qualify for official promotions with the current employer or a different employer, preparing for more responsibility and compensation by advancing in a formal career, obtaining industry recognized credentials that results in additional responsibility, it is also associated with an increase in income or benefits. Therefore, this paper x-rays the professional networking and its relevance, it covers the Benefits of Professional Networking; Places of Networking for Professional Librarians; Type of Professional Networking Connection; Brief History of Librarian's Network Program; Empirical review on Professional Networking of Librarians' for Career Advancement; Networking and Professional Networking; the Challenges of Professional Networking as well as recommendations to foster librarians professional networking.
