In this study, it was aimed to examine the mediating role of cognitive distortions in the relationship between selfcompassion and social anxiety symptoms. In this study, which was carried out with the correlational design, which is one of the quantitative research methods, 190 participants were reached. 80% of the participants are female and 20% are male. The age range of the participants varies between 18-47, with an average of 20.72 (±.32). Self-report scales consisting of a personal information form, self-compassion scale, cognitive distortions scale, and Liebowitz social anxiety scale were applied to the participants in the study. The analysis of the data regarding the research findings was carried out using the SPSS 22 package program. Descriptive statistics were used to obtain information on demographic data. Regression analysis was performed using the Process V4.2 extension (Model 4) to examine the mediating role of cognitive distortions in the relationship between self-compassion and social anxiety disorder. Correlation analysis was also performed to examine the relationship between variables. According to the findings, it was found that there is a positive and significant relationship between the variables of self-compassion, social anxiety, and cognitive distortions. In addition, it has been observed that cognitive distortions have a mediating role in the relationship between self-compassion and social anxiety. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
