Abstract

The body is transformed, mediated, extended, or manipulated as a simple means to grasp the unlimited creative possibilities, to acquire the concept of identity, to reach physical limits, and it is a unique, unrepeatable art that embraces the spectator. As Richard Schechner (anthropologist and theatre director) says, "performance is the entire constellation of events that take place among both the actors and the audience from the moment the first spectator enters the performance field to the moment the last spectator leaves." The body becomes the memory of an action, shared or not, that seeks to communicate and create in the space of the here and now. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
