Abstract

Endometriosis is a common disorder that affects approximately 10% of women worldwide, but current treatment options are limited. A new study explores the potential of using a non-hormonal treatment, specifically a tyrosine kinase inhibitor called pexidartinib, for endometriosis. The researchers found that genes encoding receptor tyrosine kinases were upregulated in endometriosis lesions compared to unaffected endometrium. In laboratory experiments, pexidartinib suppressed signaling pathways involved in inflammation and cell survival, resulting in decreased cell growth and viability. While further research is needed, targeting receptor tyrosine kinases could be a promising approach for treating endometriosis. [Extracted from the article]
