This article provides a comparative analysis of gas companies in the Iberian Peninsula throughout the second half of the 19th Century. Information was sourced from archives, libraries, and newspaper archives for this study. Specifically, it examines the origins of this sector in Spain and Portugal in the 1840s and the process of consolidation of this industry until the end of the 19th century.
