This article presents an exegetical interpretation of the text of James 4, 13-17, as the practical portion of the epistle. This article analyzed the contexts (social, historical, literary, and grammatical) in which the paragraph is inserted, to allow for a more plausible understanding of the original meaning of the text, as well as its application. The details of the text demonstrate the contrast between those who make plans without consideration to God and the believers, who must demonstrate the appropriate submission to God in their plans.
